Mission
At Nestlings Nursery and Child Care Wrexham, our mission is to create an enchanting haven where children embark on a journey of self-discovery and connection with the natural world. We nurture a spirit of wonder, independence, and resilience in every child.
Our Roots
Nestlings Forest School and Nursery was born from a shared passion for creating a nurturing environment that seamlessly blends the enchantment of the great outdoors with the foundations of early childhood education. Nestled in the heart of Wrexham, our school is more than just a place of learning; it’s a sanctuary where children flourish in the embrace of nature.
Dedicated Forest School Leaders
The heart of Nestlings Forest School and Nursery beats with the passion and dedication of our Forest School Leaders. All our Leaders are trained professionals with a love for teaching and a commitment to the well-being of each child, they create an environment where every child feels seen, heard, and encouraged to spread their wings.
Community Connection
We understand the importance of community in a child’s journey. At Nestlings, families become an integral part of our extended community, joining hands in nurturing the growth and development of our young explorers.
Join the Nestlings Family
Whether it’s the laughter echoing through our forest, the inquisitive eyes of a child discovering a hidden treasure, or the shared moments of joy and accomplishment, Nestlings is a place where memories are made, and foundations are laid for a future of boundless possibilities.
Our Values
Our staff carefully plan and prepare for each child’s needs through a blended curriculum that includes child-led and adult-led activities. We adopt an ‘in the moment’ approach when the child’s interests are ignited during a certain activity, which allows them to pursue their interests further. We also incorporate elements of the ‘Curiosity Approach’ into our curriculum, which provides many opportunities for ‘Awe and Wonder’ to take place via our array of learning opportunities.
Location and Surroundings
Nestled within an organic, natural environment, our forest school is situated amidst a diverse woodland ecosystem. Surrounded by tall trees, native flora, and natural elements, the premises provide a unique and immersive learning experience for children.
Classrooms
Instead of traditional indoor classrooms, our forest school embraces the concept of outdoor learning spaces with open-air learning areas, natural seating arrangements, and learning stations that foster a connection between children and the natural world. Furthermore, we have sheltered spaces, such as tree canopies, eco-friendly structures, teepees, and indoor firepits, for protection during adverse weather conditions.
Play Areas
Nature-inspired play areas are strategically integrated into the forest school landscape. Play areas include natural elements like fallen logs, climbing structures, and sensory gardens, encouraging physical activity and imaginative play. Sandpits, water play, and exploration corners provide opportunities for hands-on learning and creative expression.
Sleeping Rooms
Restful areas are nestled within the forest, providing a tranquil setting for naptime or quiet moments. Portable, nature-themed sleeping mats or hammocks allow children to rest comfortably while surrounded by the calming sounds of the forest with adequate shading and protection, which will ensure a safe and peaceful sleeping environment.
Health and Hygiene
Hygiene practices are maintained, with provisions for hand washing stations and proper sanitation in outdoor facilities. Wildlife Awareness: Staff members are educated on local flora and fauna, promoting an understanding of the natural environment and ensuring children’s safety in their natural surroundings. Our forest school premises are designed to create a harmonious blend of education, play, and safety within the enchanting embrace of nature, providing a truly immersive and memorable experience for
young learners.
